Coco Yoshizawa finished 4th in her first two Skateboard Street starts, at X Games Chiba 2024 and X Games Osaka 2025, riding a wave of hype from her gold medal performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics and podium finishes at three of the Olympic qualifiers, including a win at the final OQS event in Budapest in June 2024. She finished 2nd at Uprising Tokyo in 2023, her first major contest outside of the World Skate circuit. And how’s this for an origin story: She didn’t have access to social media when she started skating, and says she didn’t realize she was any good until watching Momiji Nishiya win gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 with some of her own favorite tricks to do. She started competing in World Skate events the following year and finished 6th at the 2022 World Skate event in Rome, ITA in her first international event.
